We have a long standing tradition in my family that my sister hosts Thanksgiving and I host Christmas. It's been this way for 25 years now!
Which means I don't have a lot of Thanksgiving decor around my house. I decorate for fall/harvest rather than specifically Halloween or Thanksgiving.
The nice thing about that is the decorations go up in September and just stay up until my daughter comes home for Thanksgiving.
Then it's time for Christmas decorating! We always do it the weekend she's home for Thanksgiving because she's not back again until Christmas.
Anyway, I digress.
Even though I don't host Thanksgiving dinner I absolutely love some of the beautiful table settings I find out there online. I have always been drawn to warm colors in my home which lends itself well to fall decorating....there's just something about fall, am I right?
Here are some of my favorites from around the globe:

As usual my tastes are all over the place! The nice thing is that any of these could be used for any fall dinner party, not just Thanksgiving.
Which one is your favorite?
Happy Weekend, Friends!!
Absolutely gorgeous table settings! I'm like you though and only do Christmas Eve dinner at my house. My mom covers Thanksgiving and Christmas Day.
ReplyDeleteMoo and Lilly are so cute! My Bubba loves his babies too :)
Thank you so much for all your sweet comments on my posts. I LOVE your blog and your home and I've added you to my inspiration blogs. That bar in your house alone could have done that LOL That thing is fantastic!
xo,
rue
That bar in my house got some action last night!! We had some friends come over after dinner - the guitar came out and we sat out by the fire pit on the deck. It was such a lovely evening! Today it's cold and rainy and the fire is lit in the living room....and I'm quite happy sitting here visiting all my friends in Blogland! Thanks for adding me to your list, Rue - miss you over at the Women's Room!!
DeleteHolidays rotate in my family, I have two older sisters and years ago they took the reigns from my mom. Then we each took a day. Now, as the youngest, I seem to be hosting them all...and you can bet that my table does not look like any one of those beauties. Of course, when there's 30 people, it's either a buffet or a restaurant! ;)
ReplyDeleteWow, 30 people? Holy smokes!! Sounds like buffet time to me, Kim!!
DeleteSuch gorgeous table settings. Love the last one with the lanterns so pretty. Thanks for stopping by my blog today for the Spotlight Feature now I have found your lovely blog.
ReplyDeleteGoing to follow you by email.
Kris
Thank you so much, Kris!! Your cottage is lovely - just like you!
DeleteThank you for stopping by the Back Porch!
ReplyDeleteWishing you a slightly belated welcome to the land of blog!
Thank you so much, Pat! I'm truly enjoying all the wonderful creative people out there....getting all sorts of ideas for my new home! Thanks for coming by for a visit today!
DeleteI have hosted Thanksgiving almost every year since we got married mostly because we aren't near any family but this year I would happily let someone else do all that work while I spend the day decorating the house for Christmas!
ReplyDeleteHa ha it is a lot of work, isn't it? And then the meal is over in minutes! I still look so forward to hosting Christmas for my family every year, though - the only thing missing now is my parents who are not coming back from Florida for Christmas any more. Sad. But at least I get to see them all summer long!
DeleteGorgeous inspiration! I've hosted Thanksgiving dinner for the past 20 years, but my table never looks that good. We're all about the food at my house, and we usually end up looking for every square inch of flat surface we can find to spread out all the goodies. :-)
ReplyDeleteI think that's my biggest problem with a lot of the table decor I see out there, Mimi - I'd be the same, looking to shove in a platter here, a bowl there.....I feel like you'd have to remove most of the centerpiece before you sit down to dinner! The simple one with the lantern and the magnolia leaves kind of works in that regard. Thanks for your visit, Mimi!
DeleteOh so warm and welcoming are the colors of autumn and Thanksgiving in a home. Love the first table!!
ReplyDeleteThey are all so beautiful and I love the use of natural elements in the decor. Thanks for your visit as always - have a peaceful Sunday!
DeleteLove the second one the best, though they are all wonderful! Thanks for visiting my blog! Hope to see you again soon!
ReplyDeleteThat second one is gorgeous, Penny - I love that wooden trough!! Same to you - thanks for the visit!! I look forward to browsing more around your wonderful blog!
DeleteLove all those ideas. We always have small gatherings but that's even more of an excuse to make it pretty because i have more table room! lol!

Small gatherings are wonderful, Ellen - intimate and cozy. Have fun finding the perfect table decor for your table - you're right, you have more room to decorate than some of us!!
DeleteI have hosted holidays for what seems like forever and am finally getting a break now that the middle son and my DIL are taking over :)
ReplyDeleteSounds like you're ok with that, Deb!! I don't know how I will feel when the time comes....although my mom had no issues handing over the holidays to my sister and I way back when! :)

ReplyDeleteDebbie, you made some wonderful choices to show all of us...those are beautiful! I like using a mix of colors for Thanksgiving...and then, it depends on the mood for that year...LOL. Sometimes subtle, sometimes bold! Hugs!!
ReplyDeleteI hope you will post some photos of your table, Benita, so we can see how gorgeous it is!!
DeleteI don't host Thanksgiving either but if I did I would definitely copy the table with the lantern on magnolia leaves! So simple and pretty!
ReplyDeleteI love that one also, Diane! It is so simple and elegant and you still have room on the table for all the platters of food!!
