The garden is an explosion of color these days.
Every time I walk outside the door, I see something new blooming.
I'm in heaven.
Remember the long, long winter that never seemed to end?
Well, summer on the Mountain Top is worth every snowflake in winter!
The birdsong in the mornings wakes me out of a deep sleep.
The days are typically in the high 70's, the nights in the 50's. Perfect sleeping weather.
I definitely understand why so many couples want to get married in June.
It's really when the gardens are at their most glorious.
The peonies and roses are all in bloom. Perfect for a garden wedding.
The Clematis is opening it's huge, colorful flowers.
Clematis is another of my garden favorites....I planted 6 when I moved here last spring.
The Evening Primrose is everywhere, like spots of sunshine in the landscape.
Evening Primrose is one of the easiest perennials to grow, for sure! It spreads, but not too much....and it doesn't ask for a thing. Just blooms it's little heart out.
It's gorgeous around my crooked little veggie garden, a wonderful contrast to all the pink, blue, and purple annuals I added.
The Delphinium is just starting to open it's glorious blue flowers.
Too bad the bindweed keeps trying to strangle it. I've never dealt with bindweed at any other home....I don't like it much!
The garden steps are the perfect place to pause and take note of what's blooming.
To the left, I see the Lilies have just started to open in the Perennial bed...they play well with the Wild Daisies and the Cleome.
There will be many more Lilies to open yet....my July garden last year was a Lily fest!
That's ok, I don't mind one bit - their happy orange flowers make me smile.
These Tiger Lilies grow wild along the roads up here on the mountain top, and remind me of my summers in the mountains as a child.
The last of the Rhododendrons is blooming right now, like an encore of the heavy bloom a few weeks back.
Summer has arrived in all it's glory....and although this white Irish skin doesn't like the sun, I sure do love me some summer in the garden!
What's blooming in your garden on these glorious days of late June?

I love all the daisies peaking through in your photos. You must hate to leave home these days. It's so pretty there. :)
ReplyDeleteI would spend every minute in the garden if I could, Deb!
DeleteEverything is just gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Donna! June is such a lovely month!
DeleteSummer on your mountain sure is glorious! I love the daisies peeking through, too. What is the yellow flower in the first picture with the daisies?
ReplyDeleteHi Laurie - that yellow flower is the Evening Primrose - it's all over the place!
DeleteWow that first photo is gorgeous. That shouts summer! Very pretty. Love your weather. 70's during the day and 50's at night. So wonderful. Heaven for sure. Happy Sunday. Have a great new week ahead.
ReplyDeleteKris
It actually got 'hot' yesterday up here with temps in the 80's, Kris!
DeleteOh my word, gorgeous flowers everywhere! I agree that you have a little piece of Heaven there on your mountain top. The peonies and lilies are stunning! I love your temps ~ we are roasting/baking/burning here in Texas and it's not even July/August yet. High 90's with heat index 104-110 and in the 80's at night. Bah, humbug!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your temps and your glorious gardens!
xo
Pat
I really can't imagine living with those temps, Pat - I'd never leave the A/C!
DeleteMy! That is all so beautiful!! Awesome!!! Nancy
ReplyDeleteIt's definitely a country cottage garden, a little wild, definitely unstructured...but I love it!
DeleteIt's all so beautiful and I love the path with the flowers.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Carol - I think I fell in love with the garden steps the very first time I saw the house!
DeleteYour garden is pure eye candy! Such loveliness!
ReplyDeleteEye Candy....I like that, Linda!
DeleteAbsolutely love your pathway with all those beautiful trees. Makes me swoon with hearts in my eyes!
ReplyDeleteThat's so cute, Pamela - love the visual!
DeleteAll your hard work has come to fruition and it is beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteIt's just starting to pop, and I can't wait to see how the rest of the season goes!
DeleteI love your gardens. They are so pretty and I can see all the love you have put into them. :) Thank you for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI love all gardens, Debbie - they all have their own beauty! I love seeing what other people do with their outdoor space, also - it gives me such inspiration!
DeleteThe shot of your pathway is so enticing. It makes me want to take the steps and enjoy all of the vistas at each landing.
ReplyDeleteWhat wonderful temperatures you are having, unlike most of the rest of the country.
We have some summer favorites blooming: agapanthus, cosmos, daisies, sunflowers and zinnias. Glad they like the heat! ;0)
The critters ate every single one of the Sunflower seedlings I put out - the little punks! No Agapanthus here....but I have the rest - isn't that nice, we have the same flowers, even though we are so far away from one another!
DeleteYou are blessed to have such a beutiful garden. I envy the view you have. I look out my window and see dead grass . We have not had rain all month! However, I think I have a few peppers growing out back. Thanks for sharing the beauty and a peek of heaven.
ReplyDeleteLisa
Good for you, Lisa, I remember when you put those veggies in! We just had the first rain in a while also - it poured for about a half hour, and we truly needed it!
DeleteYour gardens are absolutely gorgeous, and your weather sounds perfect. xo Laura
ReplyDeleteThanks, Laura! We got rain today, which we needed, so I'm very happy about that - and there's a lovely breeze blowing in through the windows right now, so it will be a wonderful sleeping night!
DeleteThose peonies are oh.. so.. gorgeous!!! I would bet the angels actually come down from heaven to smell their scent. But wait - your yard actually DOES look like heaven on the mountaintop, so I bet the angels just hang around :) You are blessed to have such a beautiful home!
ReplyDeleteI think I got about 30 peony blooms this year, Vickie, on that shrub - last year it only gave me THREE!! I planted 10 more peonies around the property - I can't wait to see what the future garden brings!
DeleteBeautiful garden, I enjoyed your pictures very much!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing on the Homesteader Hop!
Thanks, Jamie - and thanks for visiting!!
DeleteI am so envious of your beautiful gardens! You are right - it is heavenly! One of my favorites is Tiger Lilies. A few years ago, I went to every nursery to try to buy them, but they are not sold anymore, apparently, because they are "too invasive." I finally got some from a neighbor who was thinning hers - happy day! I'd love to grow peonies, but I don't have a good spot for them.
ReplyDeleteThat's funny, I never thought of that until you said it - I have never seen tiger lilies for sale at any nursery! They grow wild along the roadsides up here, and along the creek beds. I love them!!
DeleteI love your little piece of heaven on your mountaintop...
