I can hardly believe it, but for the second year my little blog has been nominated for an Amara award!

It's MountainMama's Birthday!
Exactly one year ago today I hit 'publish' on my very first blog post.
265 posts later, I can't believe how many of you have stuck around to read the drivel that pours from my head to my hands, and ends up traveling the globe via the WWW.

Blogging from the Heart
My dear friend Rue recently wrote on her wonderful blog, An Old Fashioned World, a heartfelt post that struck a chord with me.
It's been resonating in my brain every since I read it and I feel I have to chat with all my lovely readers about it.

My Dream Work Space - WeWork Inspired
This whole blogging thing has gotten under my skin and into my heart and soul - I can't believe how many wonderful people I've "met" through my little blog!
I really didn't know what to expect when I first started out....I just wanted to share my new home and my mountain top life with the world. Who knew that my little world would interest so many folks out there? It's still amazing to me that so many of you take time out of your busy day to pop in for a little visit and leave your lovely comments.
Thank you sincerely from the bottom of my heart!
I think towards the future and having more time in my life to dedicate to blogging. What a wonderful way to connect with the world at large!
I was asked by a representative at WeWork to share some details about my work space, the place I sit and create my blog posts. The timing couldn't be better as I was already thinking of a post along those lines....mainly because of a little idea I got into my head recently.
Right now my 'work space' is anywhere I settle myself in my cozy home with my laptop. Often with a small, bold dog on my lap, vying for my attention.
Most days it's in my cozy chair by the fire in my living room, which these days is looking like this.
Not the worst place to work, eh?
Other days I take my laptop to the dining room and plop myself at the end of the counter.
Either way I'm happy because I'm in my beautiful, cozy home, which I love. My favorite place to be.
In the warmer months I can even work outside, when the internet cooperates.
I think that's my favorite spot of all to write!
Do you wonder why I don't just work in my home office?
Because it looks like this.
Not very inspiring, is it?
It's perfect for filing and doing a quick bit of paperwork but that's about it.
I do have plans to improve it down the line but there's still no window, no view, no sunshine.
Three strikes. You're out.
Not like the offices at WeWork - what gorgeous coworking office space they have there! If I still lived in NYC I'd be tempted to rent some space at one of WeWork's 22 NYC offices - they even have one in Astoria, which was walking distance from my apartment in Queens.
However, I no longer live in NYC, I chose to live in the mountains and I couldn't be happier.
So, I have a couple of choices as I look towards the future and spending more and more time blogging.
I can continue to sit in my comfy chair with my bold little dog on my lap.
I can keep working in the dining room.
Or I can find a dedicated place in my home to serve as my home office.
Looking at the tiny space I have currently, I can certainly improve upon what's there, using inspiration I find around the web.

I could certainly liven up my little office space by bringing in color and accessories....but at the end of the day it's still a little corner downstairs next to the utility room with no windows. I can't imagine myself spending a lot of time down there.
But I had another idea. And it's sort of stuck in my head now.
What about a Murphy Bed for my guest room? I currently have a queen size bed in there, which naturally takes up most of the room. But if I had a Murphy bed, perhaps that room could be used as an office in addition to a guest room?

So, now I've got this stuck in my head and the more and more I think about it, this seems to tick all the boxes.
I'm not ready to pull the trigger just yet....but it's milling around in my brain for the future!
Meanwhile I guess I'll keep working around the little ball of fur on my lap and blowing the dog hair off my laptop.

Happy 100th Post To Me!
I remember back last winter when I was waiting to close on my new house - it was a long, long 5 months that seemed to go on forever.
And ever.
In those long, cold months I dreamed and planned and did little projects and shopped the sales.
I browsed around online trying to get ideas for how I was going to decorate my new home.
I was so excited.
Couldn't wait.
My own home, not a rental. No more landlords.
I could paint my new home any color I wanted.
I could knock down walls, take off cabinet doors, re-do floors, replace windows.
I could invest in good furniture that would last and last....because I was not moving again.
Ever.
I could plant roses and clematis and blueberry bushes and spring bulbs and lilies.
I would watch my garden grow year after year.
My daughters will take wedding photos in the garden.
My future grandchildren will play in the garden and learn to love the flowers and plants like I do.
During this long, long winter while I was browsing around online do you know what I discovered?
A bunch of home blogs out there with writers that had similar tastes, dreams, and ideas....as ME.
It was like discovering a whole bunch of new friends that I never knew I had!
The idea started growing that perhaps I could write my own blog and become a true part of this amazing community.
Perhaps?
Or was it crazy?
The long, long winter finally ended and I moved into my new house in April and I was busy as a bee unpacking and gardening and cleaning and nesting.
And I didn't have time to write anything.
But the idea stayed with me.
Then August came and I finally had a minute to breathe. And I mentioned my idea to my daughters and do you know what they did?
No, they didn't throw their heads back and laugh hysterically.
They completely and totally encouraged me and supported me.
They gave me the courage to write that very first post.
I didn't share it with anyone but my two girls.
And the world, of course. But I wasn't really thinking anyone but my daughters would ever read it.
My daughters loved it. So I wrote another post.
And another one.
At some point some other wonderful folks started reading my little blog.
And for some strange reason they also liked it.
Brenda from Cozy Little House visited my little blog and reached out with some incredible help and guidance and support and encouragement.
And I kept snapping pictures and writing posts and now we're up to #100!
I can hardly believe it....100 posts written already and I still have so much I want to share with you! So much I want to cook and plant and create and write about!
I want to thank you all for believing in me. And for your amazingly sweet comments that keep me writing. Your comments keep me motivated to keep on sharing my little mountain top life with the world.
And I can't wait for the future.
So I can share it with you.
Cheers to the next 100!
And ever.
