I've been meaning to write this post for quite a while, but time just seems to slip away from me. I have so many things I'd like to tell you, but there aren't enough hours in the week! However, I'm so enamored with these products that I just had to share.
I take very good care of my skin....after all, I only have one face. I never, ever go to bed without going through my nightly routine, no matter how exhausted I am. My morning routine is even longer, but I stick with it no matter what.
I used to be a die hard Lancôme user. Then I switched to all Clarins, and used Clarins for a few years.
But recently I read an article that spoke of some great facial products out there that are totally worth the hype.
Naturally, being a girly-girl, I had to try a few of them!

The first is this Micellar Cleansing Water by Garnier. At $6.96 on Amazon with free shipping, this was totally worth a try. Well, I was so amazed at how well this cleanses my face that I now have this on my Subscribe & Save list on Amazon, I get three bottles for the low price of $17.75 - that's a heck of a lot cheaper than the cleanser I was using from Clarins and I absolutely LOVE this product!

After cleansing, I tone with Pixi Glow Tonic, which I first bought through Target. I bought a small bottle to try out and I was hooked. Now I order directly through the company's website, where I can get a large bottle with a pump and use a coupon code as well, for extra savings. This stuff is awesome, my face feels so clean yet soft, never dried out.

At bedtime, I add another product to my routine - Paula's Choice Skin Perfecting Exfoliant. I simply pour a little on the tips of my fingers and smooth it over my face, including under my eyes. My skin is so clear and even toned since I've been using this product, and I even notice an improvement in my Rosacea.
This is another product I now have as part of my Amazon Subscribe & Save list, I love it that much.

Next step is adding moisture. I recently got a free sample of Belif's Moisturizing Bomb with a Sephora order, and unlike many of the samples that I just toss in my travel bag, something made me try this one going to bed one night.
The next morning, I couldn't believe how good my skin looked! This cream hydrates like crazy, plumping your skin, and retaining moisture for ages. I now use this as my moisturizer both morning and night, and my skin just loves it.

The next step is under-eye cream. Again, I recently got a sample of Bye Bye Under Eye Cream with a Sephora order, and I decided to give it a try. I feel as if I have been on the search for a good under eye cream for eons, only to be disappointed with so many of them. This was by far the best I've tried in a long, long time so I went ahead and ordered a jar. I use this cream in the mornings, and it definitely helps tighten up puffy under eye circles. I also feel it is very moisturizing, which of course helps with all those fine....and not so fine....lines around my eyes.

At bedtime, I use Clarins Extra Firming Eye Wrinkle Smoothing Cream. As much as I don't feel it does as good of a job on my morning under-eye puffiness, I do like it for overnight hydration. It's quite heavy, and almost feels like an eye mask when I use it at night, which is exactly what I want for my overnight eye cream.

One of the most important things I do daily to keep my skin looking its very best is use sunscreen. As a fair-haired, light-skinned Irish girl, the sun is definitely NOT my friend. Yet, I spend a ton of time outdoors in the warm months.
Recently I was contacted by the owners of Block Island Organics, asking if I would like to review their sunscreen. Yes, please!! Well, I am loving this sunscreen! I tell you, a little goes a long way, and my skin looks as soft as silk after I apply it, with a soft glow. I put this sunscreen on my face, neck, arms, hands, and any other part of me that's exposed to the sun.
I'm doing what I can to keep my skin looking as good as possible...for as long as possible. Of course, eventually I will lose the battle, but by keeping up with my routine of good skin care I hope to delay the inevitable for as long as I can.
Do you have any skin care products you swear by?
I know you'll think I'm crazy, but I've never liked anything on my skin, so I don't do a thing. I've never in my life had on sun screen. I know, terrible, huh?
ReplyDeleteBrenda
Well, it seems to be working for you, so I guess you should stick with it....although the sunscreen part is pretty important!
DeleteIf only they had did what they claim. I think if we clean our faces at bed time and put any moisturizer on we are doing something.:):) I think heavy sun bathers and smokers have the worse skin. But they will come around one day...hopefully. Blessings for a great Easter weekend, xoxo, Susie
ReplyDeleteNo doubt that's true, Susie. I can't be out in the sun at all without sunscreen, so that will probably help me in later years!
DeleteThank you for doing the research on makeup for us, we have all been thru the trial and error process, usually spending to much money. I definitely will be trying some of these mentioned in your blog. It is difficult for me to find the right one for my dry skin. I do enjoy your blog with your every day activities and how to articles. Looking forward to your gardening information for summer. I am going to local nursery tomorrow to purchase some hanging baskets, love, love working in flower garden, so you know I enjoy your blog. Have a fun summer!
ReplyDeleteIf your skin is dry you will love that moisture bomb cream, Theresa! I bought some pansies so far, which I just adore looking at now, but I am not even close to being done with clearing out all the garden beds - hopefully this weekend I'll finish!
DeleteDarn it! Just lost my comment. I have been using Boots 007 products for several months and love them. I finally switched over to using just one brand of stuff after having 20 different 1/2 used products-some drug store and some very expensive ones. I combined every cream (using ALL of the different types of brands I had tried) into a big jar and used it for a leg, arm, etc. product. Those areas have never FELT so good and I felt good because I wasn't just throwing good products away.
ReplyDeleteI like that you have found so many great things that work for you. xo Diana
Hey, that's a smart idea, Diana, using the many, many products on arms/legs/etc!! Boots is a company they used to sell in Ireland in the drugstores when I was over there, a lot of Irish ladies love that product. I never tried it, now I'm going to have to look it up!
DeleteFirst of all, I love girly-girl posts and lists! I'm very interested in the Paula's product as I have rosacea too. I've been using BOOM Silk for months now and love their natural honey products but I really can't use it at night as it too easily rubs off on my pillowcase.
ReplyDeleteOh, yeah, I wouldn't like that either! I love that Paula's product, and it's not that terribly pricey so it is most definitely worth a try, Dewena!
DeleteIm fighting "almost 50" too. I was all into this post! I need a good makeup remover and an eye wrinkle cream. That I can afford! These all sound interesting. Thanks for sharing the reviews.
ReplyDeleteLisa
Lisa, you'll love that Micellar water for removing all your makeup - I don't use anything else now to take off eye, face, lip, everything - it does such a great job, and so gently!
DeleteI have such sensitive skin, it's so hard for me to find things that don't irritate it. I have been using Clinique forever since so far, it works. It would be nice to try new things though...especially since 50 is on the horizon and things don't look the way I want them too! ;)
ReplyDeleteI know that Micellar water would be gentle enough for your skin, Kim - perhaps you could start there!
Deleteive been using the micellar water for two or three years now.....and i absolutely LOVE IT! it just melts the make up and dirt right off--and quick and leaves my face feeling really clean. I doubt i will ever use anything different
ReplyDeleteI feel the same way, I'm totally hooked....and I LOVE the price!
DeleteOops! Lost my comment somewhere. My skin would be so happy if I treated it with as much care as you do yours! I think I need to add an exfoliant to help with the dark spots on my face. Thanks for all the reviews!
ReplyDeleteVickie, the Paula's Choice might help the dark spots on your face - it's definitely made my skin more even toned!
DeleteI totally love the Micellar water I have been using it for a while now!
ReplyDeleteXO Ellen from Ask Away
www.askawayblog.com
You and me both, Ellen! It's the best stuff for night time cleansing that I have found to date!
DeleteGood Morning!
ReplyDeleteWow such great tips for our skin:) I have been an off and on skin care sort of person and I am now paying for it! So glad that you are using Sunblock, smart lady!
I am enjoy skin medica products now. They seem a bit pricey at first, but it takes such a small amount of product that they usually last me about 4-6 months.
Happy Easter Monday Lovely Lady!
xo
Jemma
Thanks for the suggestion, Jemma, I'm going to have to look up Skin Medica! I'm sure that you need to lather on sunscreen every day in Texas....my skin wouldn't like that heat much, that's for sure!
Deletethis is one of my favorite posts you've done. I love love this information. I have to buy that Paula's- I used a tiny sample and noticed such a difference. The biggest and best thing I've used on my skin recently has been the Icelandic Mineral Solution from FACE Stockholm. Its actually incredible. Its made with marine enzymes and it rejuvenated my skin like I've never felt. I agree with you on the eye cream- I use them sparingly, a few times a week, but they just feel goopy and like they don't do a lot for me! Also, Josie Maran argan oil foundation helps my skin stay glowy all day, not good for coverage though. Do a cosmetics one next please! xoxox
ReplyDeleteWell, Amanda, my skin and yours are in two very different age ranges, so what works well for me might not be the best for you. But I actually think all these products would work well for your skin! And don't forget the sunscreen!!!
DeleteI do love this kind of post! Gosh, I am finding the need for moisturizer to be overwhelming at this point. Love that you shared these ideas and you are so smart to do the subscription service. I never would have thought of that.
ReplyDeleteYou save $$ when you get the products added to your subscription, Stacey. And they notify you a few days before your shipment is due, so you have a chance to skip those items that you don't need to replenish just yet. I love it!
DeleteI really need to check into some of these products, since 50 is knocking at my door too. My biggest problem is hereditary dark spots. They seem to have lightened a bit since I've been using Retinol, but not enough for me. Ugh... where is the face I had when I was in my 30s? lol
ReplyDeletexo
Yeah, I hear ya, I miss that skin!! That Paula's Choice might be a good one for dark spots, Rue - it's worth a try!
DeleteDebbie, I loved reading about your favorites!!! I'm so glad for this cleanser recommendation because I although I really like the Clarins gentle foaming cleanser I've been using, it seems they have changed the scent of it somehow, and it bothers me a bit! I totally love how it doesn't strip my skin of all hydration like some cleansers do but I'm not loving the smell. Look forward to trying this! Along with your Lancome mascara recommendation!! :)
ReplyDeleteMy daughter is hooked on that Micellar water also, Lisa! I seriously can't believe how well it cleans without stripping my skin of moisture, it's like magic! And hello? At that price? Yes, please!! :)
