Thank you all for your very kind words about my sweet angel, Lily - the house has been so quiet since she's gone. I was so used to the sound of her nails tapping around - even though the other two babies make their own little taps, I am still missing the sound of our tip-tappity Lily. 

Evenings On The Deck

My favorite part of the day is when my long day in the office is over and I can head back home to my sweet country house. 

I often laugh at the expression "The Lazy Days Of Summer" as my summers are quite the opposite. My job is in high gear and the garden and property upkeep demand all my spare time. 

Lazy days? In what lifetime? 

Mountain Mama's Home Sweet Home

Any of you who have been following me for a while know my posts are sporadic in the summer months, to say the least. 

My work life is insanely busy.....and my home life isn't much better. 

Bits & Bobs...And An Update

We are still waiting for spring to arrive to the mountain top...as a matter of fact just a few minutes ago it was snowing. 

Of course it was....that's because Mother Nature knows I wanted to get out in the garden tomorrow and get some spring cleanup done! 

Winter Lingers On

Winter lingers on here on the Mountain Top, that's nothing new. 

We are in the midst of yet another snowstorm, with about 6 inches of snow expected. 

Not surprising as it's still February...winter isn't nearly done with us yet.

Molly's First Year

I can't believe it, but sweet Little Miss Molly has been in her forever home for a year now! 

September 14th is the day she came into our lives, and the day we have designated as her birthday.

Meanwhile, here on the mountain top, we are still buried in snow and ice. 

Finding My Way To Peace

My friend Brenda over at Cozy Little House posted today about how she conquered her fears to get to a better place in her life. 

She really got me thinking. 

I often post about the peace that I have in my little mountain top home, and how happy I am living here. 

But many of you are newer readers and don't know how that peace came to be. 

Living A Beautiful Life

Over the holidays I read a fabulous book, spurred on by comments left by many of you on a post on another blog. 

I can't remember which blog, but I immediately pulled up my Amazon account and ordered the book. 

An Absence Of Color

I can't believe it's been TWO weeks since I was able to get a post up! I think since I started blogging this is the first time I've gone that long without checking in!

My office mate is on medical leave at the moment, which means I've been taking over a lot of what he does to keep things running smoothly until his return. 

Which equates to me being busier than ever right now!

It's hard to believe Christmas has come and gone. It seems we prepare so much and so long and then it's over in a heartbeat. 

Holiday Home Tour 2017

It's the most wonderful time of the year, no doubt, and, like most of you, I've been busy gussying up my little cozy house, getting it all dressed and ready for Christmas. 

It seems a ton of work at the time, but isn't it all worth it when it's all said and done?

Home Sweet Home

My heart goes out to all those folks in Texas that have lost loved ones, and also to those that have lost their homes.

 

The loss of a life is devastating. The loss of a pet, equally so for those of us who count our pets as our family.

 

And the loss of a home is without a doubt also a tragic thing.

The Garden In Mid Summer

Wow, this summer is flying by, without a doubt. I can't believe we are at the end of July!

Here in the mountains, we are already seeing the first hints of fall with pops of autumn color showing up here and there in the trees and shrubs.  Every year it seems to take me by surprise!
