My Cozy Home Got Even Cozier!

So, I think you all know by now how obsessed I am with my dining room

I'm not sure what it is about it, it just makes me smile so much when I look into that space.

And when the morning sun pours in, I become a little bit of a nut-job, taking a billion photos and smiling like a lunatic.

Well, now it's gotten even worse....because the new drapes came from Country Curtains and I am absolutely in love with them!

Seriously, it's so sad that they are going out of business....their products are so wonderful!

My little chalet style house, which always felt like a cottage to me, now feels even more like a little country cottage!

There's just something about the contrast of the stone on the fireplace and the soft floral on the new drapes that just feels right.

I was worried that once the new drapes arrived I wouldn't like them, because I have such a hard time with change.  Plus everything at Country Curtains is final sale now, so either way I was keeping them.

I was also worried that the new drapes would block some of the amazing sunlight....but they truly don't!

This shot shows the old sheers and the abundant sunshine. As much as I loved those sheer curtains, I am seriously drooling over the new floral drapes!

I feel like my little country home is even cozier than ever now! I hung these drapes using clip rings that I purchased on Amazon, and I adore the contrast of the black iron with the soft floral. The rods came from Amazon back when I bought my house, and the quality is excellent.

Seriously, what on earth did we do before Amazon?

The kitchen window and door each got a fun little valance that compliments the drapes beautifully. How cute is this little polka dotted valance? Insert all the heart eyes here!

The bedroom drapes are quite different, they are taupe tweed and lined.  Quite masculine, almost like a suit fabric. In here I love the contrast of the crystal drapery rod (also from Amazon) with the dark drapes. I also hung these using clip rings, this time in a silver color to match the rod.

I can't even begin to tell you how difficult it's been to get out of bed in the mornings since I hung these drapes. I haven't set an alarm clock in ages, the morning sun always woke me. Not any more! When I have the drapes closed my room goes from cozy to uber-cozy, like a little warm cave!

I kept the drapes simple in here, because I like my bedroom to be very serene and calming. Plus I knew the tweed would go nicely with the tile on the bedroom fireplace surround.

Monkey didn't care one bit about the new drapes, she just wants to play with her favorite squeak ball.

As much as I'm obsessed with my dining room, she's equally obsessed with that orange ball. She will lie down with it and lick it all over....such a weirdo!

Looks like I'm not the only one who thinks my house is super cozy!

Can you see Little Miss Molly on the sofa?

Didn't take her long to settle in, that's for sure! We absolutely love that little crackpot, she makes us laugh every day! What a big personality in such a tiny little body!! She was absolutely meant to be part of our family, I can't imagine my home without her now.

I am truly blessed.

    1. They kind of do, don't they, Monica? They are beyond spoiled!! But I always say, why have a pet if you aren't going to spoil them? I could do with a little less dog hair on the chairs, though!!! :)

    1. Now is a great time, Jenn, with the amazing sales they are having at Country Curtains! I also love red and white - I used to have buffalo check drapes in red and white in my home when I was married....have to stay away from that print in my new home!

  5. Your new drapes look perfect in here Debbie!! I love how you take a ton of pictures with a big smile on your face when the morning light comes streaming in. We all need to do more of loving on our homes like you do, instead of just seeing what needs to be done or changed! You have a beautiful perspective!

    1. Thanks so much!! I made that pendant light when I first moved in! I just bought a pendant light kit (from Amazon, where else) and that amazing lampshade (I think from Lamps Plus....I bought a second one for the living room lamp) and that was that!! I love it so much!

  14. Wow. Really...wow! Those drapes look great! And the light DOES come through perfectly and, I might add, cheerfully! Except in the bedroom. I know exactly what you mean about sleeping in when you are in a dark room. I think it's one of life's little luxuries, especially now that I am retired and rarely have to go anywhere in the early morning. I do plan to put up drapes in all of my windows when we finish building our home. I used to like miniblinds and wooden shutters, but oh with all the dust and pollen flying around here I would have to be a mad woman cleaning them all the time! Instead, I will buy machine washable drapes and just throw them in the washer. Much easier. I just wish my home was done so I could take advantage of the Country Curtains going out of business sale. Give Lily, Monkey and Molly love hugs from me!

    1. I used to have wooden shutters on my kitchen window when I lived in the city, with a valance up above. I loved that look, I guess because it brought a little bit of a country feel to my city apartment! Can't wait to see your house all built and you settling in and 'nesting', Vickie!

  15. I really like your new drapes! I don't know if I would have been brave enough to order them without the option of returning. Who knows what dogs think! Our Coco has a fleece toy she loves and sucks on it like a pacifier. Nancy
