Home Tour, Master Suite

I moved into my new house in the beginning of April and it's been under construction for most of the weeks/months since.

When I bought the home, it had 3 bedrooms/1bath upstairs and 1 bedroom/1 bath downstairs. Now it has 2 bedrooms/2 baths upstairs and 1 bedroom/1 bath downstairs.

The new master suite is my dream master - I knew exactly what I wanted and between myself, an architect friend, and my contractor the design came together in an amazing way. I couldn't be more pleased!

The dresser finally arrived last night, which means I can now finish unpacking my clothes, which will be amazing since it's been about 5 months since I've seen some of my clothing!

I'm still looking for a comfy chair for that corner, but I was waiting until the dresser was in to see how much space I really had to work with.

Lily loves the new master suite
The master suite was created out of two previous bedrooms. It consists of the bedroom, a laundry area, walk in closet, and master bath. It's not a large master, but it has everything I need.

I've never had a master suite like this so it's quite the treat to have all this storage space, designed just for me. My contractor did an amazing job creating all of this out of a blank slate.

Of course, since I'm a true girly girl, I had to have a chandelier in my closet and another in my bathroom.

I now have lots of storage for clothes and shoes - everyone who sees this closet has closet envy!

I also have a dream vanity which makes me feel like a princess when doing my beauty routine. I have wanted a makeup vanity since I was about 12 years old so this feels like a dream come true for me. It's all about the little things, don't you think?

The bedroom and bathroom look out into my back garden and the woods beyond so it's extremely private. The only living things I see from my bedroom are the horses next door and the occasional deer, squirrel, bird, or chipmunk. Thankfully I haven't spotted a bear back there yet....

The shower and bath are both so luxurious - I love being able to soak in the tub after a hard day in the garden. The shower has a rain showerhead and I can see the double sided fireplace from the shower, the tub, and the bed. Dreamy!

Now I have to figure out the layers. The main pieces are in, the space is comfortable and I truly love it, but it's still lacking the many design layers that come with time. The STUFF. The fluff.

I love looking at photos on Pinterest and on the many blog sites I follow, and I adore all those cozy homes with the many details that make each home unique.

Mine will get there, it will just take time.

And since I'm never moving ever again I'll have lots of time to figure it out!

    1. Thank you, Melanie - I love this space myself!! I designed it to be an escape when I need a quite place to get away by myself....like when my daughter has friends over. It's nice to have my own little refuge where I can sit and read or watch TV....or browse around Blogland! I kept the big things neutral so I can change out my duvet cover and towels/bathmats to bring in color whenever I want - kind of like I tried to do with the rest of the house. Thanks for your visit!!

  9. Just gorgeous! And yes, I totally have closet envy! I have a very small one and it drives me crazy. This is a wonderful apt and really, that's the only thing I wish was different. Oh, yes, make that two things...would love a stand alone shower! :) Years ago, I dated a guy that was a builder for high end homes outside of Denver. He took me to see one of his designs...absolutely huge master suite with a wrap around fireplace into the master bath. That area was huge too...TV, gorgeous shower and the gigantic tub had windows that you could look out on the front range. Simply stunning!

This is such a beautiful space and you're right...you have time to create the style you want.
