Beauty On A Budget Update

Do you remember a while back I wrote a post about budget beauty? I'm still using and loving the products I wrote about back in November, but now I have a few more amazing beauty bargains to share with you!

The first product I am completely and totally hooked on, and I've been using it even more than my previous moisturizer that I had been enamored with for so long. I thought it was irreplaceable, but guess what!

CeraVe on Amazon
My sweet friend Kris over at Junk Chic Cottage commented on my last post with a suggestion to try CeraVe Moisturizing Cream. She said she had been using it for quite some time and absolutely loved it. Well, how could I not give it a try? After all, Kris is gorgeous!

Well, Kris was completely and totally right - I love, love, love this cream!   At $ 12.80 through Amazon's Subscribe & Save program for a 19 ounce jar this is an incredible bargain for an incredible product! I have been using it both day and night and my skin is so smooth - I wake up in the morning and my skin is dewy and fresh, plumped with moisture. Did I mention I LOVE this cream?

In the morning I scoop out a little on my fingers, dab it on my face, rub it into my hands, and then rub around my face. Both my hands and face are benefiting from this! I ordered it in early November, nearly 5 months ago, and I still have about a half a jar left. That's my idea of a great budget beauty item - thanks Kris!

The second product that has won me over is this set of Shampoo and Conditioner by Suave.

Yes, that's right...you read that correctly. Suave.
Suave on Amazon
I was a Paul Mitchell girl for years. Years and years and years. I thought there was nothing that could break me away from Paul Mitchell.

But I had to try, because, you know....that darned budget thing

I tried Pantene....and I like it, don't get me wrong. It's a very nice product. Then I tried Herbal Essences....I wasn't impressed at all. My hair was dull and lifeless.

And then my local Dollar General had this two pack of Suave Moroccan Infusion Shampoo and Conditioner on sale for $4.00 and I thought what the heck, I'll give it a try.

I love it. Love, love, love. My hair is shiny, soft, and healthy. I've been using it for a few months now, and I'm a complete convert. Suave, you won me over with this product!

While still on the hunt to replace some of my more expensive Paul Mitchell products, I went searching for a new styling oil and a new spray-on leave in conditioner.

I'm still looking for the styling oil, but I did find a great inexpensive leave-in conditioner.

Palmers Coconut Oil on Amazon
I can't remember where I picked mine up, possibly Walmart, but Amazon has it also. It's inexpensive, smells great, and leaves my hair incredibly soft without weighing it down.

It replaced the much more expensive Paul Mitchell Super Strong that I used for years.

If anyone has a great inexpensive styling oil they can recommend I'd love to hear about it! I was using Paul Mitchell's Awapuhi Wild Ginger Styling Oil and although I really do love it, it's way out of my budget.

I'm also still on the hunt for a great budget friendly eye cream, by the way.

What are your favorite budget beauty products? I'd love to hear about them in the comments below!

  3. I will give the CeraVe a try. I have very dry skin (thank you menopause) and need something that moisturizes better than what I'm using! Thanks for the tip! I love Suave also...great products! Love and hugs!

  4. I love the micellar cleansing water, it melts make up right off, including eye make up. I also like the wal mart brand facial cleansing wipes, they do a good job too, I usually soak a couple of the wipes with the micellar water. I also love the Suave dry shampoo products, and the super shine shampoo and conditioner. Except for a few Bare Minerals products, I pretty much use alot of drugstore make up like maybelline, neutrogena, and cover girl and a few of the Elf products.

    1. I'm hooked on Micellar water also - I use the Garnier brand, the pink bottle. You're right, it seriously just melts everything away! I use it on cotton rounds, and usually two rounds is all I need.

  5. I've been a Paul Mitchell girl for a very long time - but... now you've got my wanting to try the Suave - I'm going to look for it. I use Clinique products now on my very try skin, and that's not a budget item, I know - but it really does work, well enough that this lazy about beauty girl actually uses it regularly.

    1. I used to use Clinique years ago....and then I went to Lancome, and then Clarins....and then I started looking for more budget friendly options when I realized just how much I was spending on those items. I haven't been disappointed - there are great products out there that don't break the bank!

  6. Hi Debbie,
I love the Cera Ve so much. The dermatologist said it is the best out there. I have to say it does make your skin soft and does not leave that heavy grease feel to your skin. I am glad you love it. I also love Suave products and love them. Happy Friday.
    Hugs,
    Kris

  8. I have curly color-treated hair, so the shampoo and conditioner that work best for my hair are the Pantene ones that are targeted to both. I do use Trader Joe's tea tree oil shampoo a couple of times a week though, especially in winter when I get a dry, itchy scalp - and that stuff is definitely a budget buy and works great! My husband loves it, too. I'm pretty picky about creams I use on my skin, whether moisturizers or lotions because I don't like those products with a lot of chemicals in them. One of the things I don't like about CeraVe is that it has petroleum in it. I've been using the Acure facial moisturizers (eye cream, day cream and night cream) for years and love them. They're a little pricey, but a tube last for months.

    1. Ooooh there's something about tea tree oil that makes my stomach turn! I remember one time when I was in Ireland my face broke out when I arrived (probably from the flight) and I picked up a tea tree oil cleanser at the pharmacist's recommendation....every morning in the shower I would gag trying to wash my face with it! Eek!!
