Come on in....

Yesterday was my very first blog post. Ever. Brand new, sparkling clean blog page that I filled with my words and thoughts and photos. Very exciting, I must have gone back and viewed the finished page 10 times, I was that proud of myself for finally taking the plunge!

My daughters were also proud....they have been encouraging me for months, since the first day I shared my initial quietly uttered sentence that maybe, just maybe, Mommy might want to start a blog. They didn't throw their heads back and howl with laughter, but rather uttered words of support and encouragement. They nudged me along all these months with, "Mom, did you start your blog yet?" and "Mom, when are you going to start your blog?"

So, when I hit "Publish" for the first time yesterday, who do you think were the only people I sent the link to? My two beautiful daughters, that's who. And I held my breath and waited for them to get back to me with their constructive criticism. After all, they are much more in tune with this whole "social media" thing than I am....one of the many benefits of being in your mid 20's as opposed to being, well, my age.

Surprisingly, I got no constructive criticism. All I got was amazing support and praise and perhaps a little astonishment that my first page didn't look like something a 4 year old put together.

Hmmmm. Maybe Mommy's not so clueless about these things after all? Just maybe....

My older daughter also sent me a laundry list of things I need to do next in order to have a "successful" blog - and honestly, when I read the list, I was more than a little overwhelmed!

"I can do this" I told myself. Just cross one thing off the list at a time.

And I will. It's all about baby steps. And yes, I can do this.

One post at a time, one photo at a time, one thought at a time. And maybe even a recipe thrown in here and there.

I get a little nervous about putting myself out there for all the world to see, especially when I read some of my favorite bloggers (check out the list to the right on my page for some of my faves!)

I get more than a little nervous when I read their posts - such amazing writers they are - witty, clever, engaging.

I get more than a little nervous when I see their perfect homes and gardens and food shots.

But I'm not trying to be perfect, and I never will be. I'm just posting images and thoughts and words that come from the heart, things that make me feel. Things that make me want to share them with the world.

My home will never be perfect...but it's perfect for me.

Come on in. You're always welcome.

  1. Wonderful! Congratulations to you for taking the leap. Just remember nobody is perfect and it's up to you to show what you want in a picture. It's amazing what can be cropped out if you want to and sometimes I show the mess just for fun. :)
