Not the Best Start to the New Year....

I wanted to pop in an wish all my wonderful readers a very happy and healthy New Year!

Unfortunately, on New Year's Eve morning I woke up with a terrible virus and it's kept me down for the count for the past two days.

Needless to say, it was a very quiet New Year's Eve celebration for me - I was home in my recliner in my jammies watching the entire first season of Downton Abbey, which I can now say I am completely and totally addicted to - uh oh!

In addition, my daughter and I watched the entire first season of Grace and Frankie - have you seen this show yet? I'm totally hooked!

Official Trailer for Grace and Frankie
Two amazing actresses - Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin - how could you go wrong?

All in all, despite being a rough start to the New Year, it turned out quite well after all because I got to spend some quiet at-home time with my daughter (who was also sick.)

And we found two new shows that we love.

Which, considering how little TV I actually watch is both a good thing and a scary thing!

I hope your 2016 is off to a fantastic start, no matter what way you rang in the New Year.

Cheers!

    1. Oh, you poor things - yes, same to you! I honestly haven't felt that ill in eons - and I hope not to feel that way ever again!

  2. I'm so sorry you've been sick. I haven't watched Grace & Frankie yet, although I've wondered about it. Oh my goodness, how I LOVE Downton Abbey! I prefer to binge watch it though. When the new (last!) season begins, I won't watch an episode a week...I'll wait until the DVD comes out and spend a weekend watching it.

Take care and feel better soon!

    1. Oh, Mimi - it's wonderful, I think you'd love it!! I really don't watch very much TV but when I do, I guess I binge watch also. I can sit down and watch 8 episodes of Tiny House Hunters....or Modern Family....Mike & Molly....and now I've got Downton Abbey. I started at the beginning, so I have some catching up to do! And I'm so very sad that it's now on the last season - how can that be when I just started watching it? :)
      Happy New Year to you!

  3. I don't have subscription television but do have the first five seasons of Downton Abbey which I'll begin watching, again, Sunday night. As for viral infections...http://www.mainemedicinals.com/. I've been sick once since 12/10 and take elderberry extract daily.
Happy New Year to you and yours; celebrate in good health and happiness...soon.

  4. I couldn't stay up to midnight, but we did have a lovely New Year's Eve dinner with my youngest son. New Year's Eve is actually his birthday! Then, we spent the better part of New Year's Day moving my son to a new apartment. Ugh - I'm tired!
I haven't seen Downton Abbey yet, nor have I seen Grace and Frankie, but when I have some down time in the next few weeks I plan to spend some time in front of the boob tube!
Get well soon! Happy New Year!

    1. Happy Birthday to your son!! Oh, but the moving....isn't it just the worst? It was so strange for me to spend so much time watching TV - only that I was really, REALLY feeling awful and couldn't do a darned thing but sit....and nap....and sit some more. Uggghhhh!

  7. I'm so sorry to hear that you've been sick, and on the holiday! But on the other end, it gave you a chance to watch Downton Abbey. My husband and I both got hooked on it and we've been faithfully watching it every Subday evening when it's on. Neither of us are happy that the LAST EVER season starts this Sunday. We don't want it to end!

    1. I am truly addicted to that show now, Sheila - I could easily sit for hours and just watch episode after episode - it's like when you're reading the BEST book and you just can't put it down!!

    1. She went back to work yesterday, Susie - and yes, she is on the mend. Still not 100%, nor am I, but we are both much improved over Thursday - that was a very, very bad day!

  10. Ah, so you didn't get all dressed up and go out. I like staying home so much more!

    1. I was the polar opposite of "dressed up", Brenda - I was in my jammies with a fleece robe and a fuzzy throw, sitting on my recliner, napping and watching TV.

It's very rare that I have a day like that!

  11. UGH, hope that you both kick it soon!

I don't have cable TV anymore / cut it out a few years ago. I have the Downton DVDS and ordered the latest one to arrive in a few weeks. Can't wait :)

    1. I was watching Downton Abbey on my Amazon Prime through my smart TV - and we watched the other show through my daughter's Netflix, also through my smart tv. If it was up to me I wouldn't have satellite - I keep it for my sweetie, who has to watch the news and his sports. I could totally do without and just go with my smart tv - all I need is my WiFi! Happy New Year, my friend! xo

  13. Oh no. I hope you are feeling better now. I don't really watch tv either, but I love Lily and Jane. I haven't heard of that show. I am off to check it out! Thanks, Deb.

  14. Love.Love.Love Downton Abbey! I was hooked right away too! I am on the list at the library for Season 6...sad it's the last one! :( It was a great series and taught me so much about history that I did not know!
I had not heard of Grace and Frankie and will look into that one! Another good one is Suits, I am on Season 4 of that one now - it's good!
