The Simple Beauty of Winter

We awoke to a lovely surprise this morning - a true winter wonderland, which was not part of the weather forecast I heard last night.

The Good Things Comin'
It made me smile on a morning when I didn't feel like smiling.

The Good Things Comin'
Why, you ask, did I not feel like smiling?

The Good Things Comin'
Because I have to work today....on my day off.

And tomorrow....on my other day off.

Which means no day off for me this week.

Which makes me a very cranky girl.

The Good Things Comin'
I need my quiet time. I need my time away from the office. I need to be able to have a day where I can stay in my jammies all day if I feel like it.

Not that I would....ever.

Wink, wink.

The Good Things Comin'
I still managed to get a couple of little chores done before leaving for work. The sheets were changed, all the laundry done, and the dishwasher was humming away happily when I left.

The Good Things Comin'
And my daughter took the most lovely photos of the snowfall this morning, which I am grateful for.  (I have linked back to her blog under each photo in case you'd like to pop over for a visit.)

She also brought in wood.

And shoveled the walk.

And when I left for work she was cleaning the lower level.

Teamwork.

Isn't it wonderful?

  3. When you have to work weekends, I don't understand why they don't give you two days off during the week.

    1. It feels so peaceful with the fresh snow....and the birds chirping at the feeders, the horses next door clomping through the snow.....and all the sounds muffled. Winter peace!

  7. Beautiful wonderland indeed! The snow always makes me happy too! But having to leave home to work, that would be tough, I agree with you on that one! How sweet of your daughter to do some extra chores for you though, that counts for a lot! Hope things get better for you :)

  10. Wow, such beautiful pictures! Will you be able to take comp time or collect overtime? I have a friend who works for Apple and she works lots and lots of hours.

    1. Nope....no overtime. I might be able to sneak away for a little ski time this week in lieu of losing my days off.
