A Cozy Cabin Christmas

It's that time of year again.....time to think about lugging all the Christmas stuff into the house and creating my own little indoor winter wonderland!

I'm a firm believer that your decor should not only suit the style of your home, but also the region in which you live. It would make no sense for me to create a coastal themed wonderland, when I live in the mountains of upstate NY.

When Wayfair reached out to see if I wanted to take part in their Holiday Decorating Campaign, I jumped at the chance!  I'm a huge fan of Wayfair and have many of their wonderful products in my house!

If you remember my holiday decor from last year, I really cut way back on 'chatchkas' and focused more on adding to my tree collection. I wanted my home to be like a magical winter forest....which makes sense as my house backs up to acres and acres of undeveloped woodland.

I decided I wanted to tweak it a little this year, and go with more of a 'cabin' style Christmas.

Since my dining room and living room are adjacent and somewhat open to each other, I kept the theme consistent from one space to the other.

Check out my finds on Wayfair for creating your own Cozy Cabin Christmas:

Can't you just envision my holiday table dressed in buffalo plaid, with flickering candles, good food, and the wine and laughter flowing?
For my living room, I continued the Cozy Cabin Christmas theme with the following amazing picks from Wayfair....may I just say I'm drooling over that Christmas tree!!!

Putting together this post has made me really excited to start my holiday decorating! Last year I did it slowly, bringing in one small tree per night for the week prior to Thanksgiving, and then putting up the big tree the day after Thanksgiving. That worked so well, and I didn't feel overwhelmed.

You can find some terrific tips for perfectly decorating your tree if you hop on over to this post.  As for finding the perfect Christmas Tree, here's a great guide to help you decide what's right for your home.

I don't have to do much with the outside of my home, as it already looks like a winter wonderland. I'll hang a pretty wreath on the door, plug in the holiday lights that are up year round, and put my candles in the windows. Perfect! Plus, there's no way I'm getting up on that big ladder again....but if you need some tips on hanging lights outside your own home, here's a wonderful place to start, filled with practical tips and great advice!

That's it, I'm excited!!  I think perhaps the first tree will go up tonight!

I bought the eggnog already, and my DVR is loaded with Hallmark movies - bring it on, Cozy Cabin Christmas - I'm ready for you!

  4. Love the direction you're going in for Christmas. I have been doing things in a more organized fashion. I decided last year I wasn't bringing up the trees until everything else was finished. I enjoy it more and there isn't tons of stuff in my face.

Can't wait to see your Cozy Christmas.

    1. Last year I didn't do a lot other than trees/wreaths, and I think I'll probably stick with that this year, Cindy. My daughter bought a house this year - she can take all the stuff I no longer use.

  7. Debiie, I love your environment and style that matches! Being in our new home, I am working with what I have, and finding I am able to purge yet more. I downsized my tree and didn't end up using all my decorations, but have filling bowls and vases. There's nothing like adding little lights to create some magic. Have yourself a cozy holiday season!

    1. That has to be tough, Rita - you did a complete 180 with your style, going from that classic Southern home to a contemporary loft - that's not an easy transition but you're doing it beautifully!!

  8. What a lovely idea... because we have the family Thanksgiving meal here, I don't bring my Christmas stuff out till the day after, because I still want it to look like fall around here on that day. I LOVE those Christmas trees at Wayfair!! might take a stroll over there! Happy Holidays to you and yours -

  11. You have been busy! Love these timeless choices. I am smitten with the rose twig and apple garland. It could easily be combined with other garland that I already have.
    Happy Holiday weekend!
