We made it to March, friends, and in just over a week we change the clocks - woo hoo, spring is surely on the way! 

Spring Is Sneaking In Slowly On The Mountain Top

Hello to all my wonderful readers who are still hanging in there after all these months! 

It's amazing how quickly time flies by, even when working from home doing the same thing day after day. 

Signs of Spring

Yesterday was a glorious day on the mountain top! The sun was shining, the birds were singing, and best of all......are you ready?? 

Drumroll please.....

Spring Has Sprung!

Well...not really, although it is a weirdly warm day today on the mountain top!! 

BUT gardening season has officially begun in my house, and I'm filled with a renewed sense of excitement!

My 2020 Seed Order

I finally got around to doing a seed inventory, and it doesn't appear that I need to order any veggie seeds at all - I'm well stocked! 

However, recently Park Seed had a 10 for $10 sale, where select seed packets were on sale for just $1 each! 

You know I couldn't let that one go by, don't you?

Spring On My Mind

You know it's wayyyyyy too early for me to be even thinking of spring, don't you? 

After all, I haven't even taken down my Christmas tree yet! 

And let's face it, the mountain top doesn't really see spring until well into April.

Garden Inspiration

We go another 10 inches of snow dumped on us last weekend, but that doesn't mean I'm giving up on my garden dreams and plans! 

Mother nature can't stop me....well technically she can, since I haven't been able to get a single thing done outside yet, but she can't stop me from dreaming!

I have been ordering seeds like mad this season, in an attempt to create my dream garden without paying a fortune at the garden center.

How To Build A Cold Frame

You know I've been all about the early spring garden chores lately....despite the fact that we got another few inches of snow yesterday. 

That doesn't stop me, though...there are things I can be doing at this time of year to get prepared for the busy gardening season ahead.

There's not much to show in the outside garden at the moment - lots of snow, some ice, and abundant blue skies and sunshine.

Spring Dreaming Despite A Major Snowstorm

We are in for a WHOPPER of a snowstorm this weekend - latest prediction says 14 - 20 inches, but possibly up to 28 inches.

Whew, oh boy, I'm going to be sore after all that shoveling!!

Meanwhile, my mind is already starting to plan my spring garden.

Saving Money With Seed Starting

I realize I haven't given you an update on my seed starting experiment. 

Sorry about that, there are so many things I want to share with you, and yet only so many hours in the day!

Creeping Slowly Towards Spring

Despite the fact that we got yet another winter storm Friday into Saturday, there is evidence all around that spring is coming to the mountains....slowly but surely.

Weekend To-Do List

There are never enough hours in the day. And most definitely, not enough hours in the weekend. 

If I have any hope of remembering all the things I need to do on any given weekend I must write them down. 

If anyone is free this weekend and wants to come by to help.....here's what we'll be doing. 

That is, if the rain everrrrrrrrr stops. 

Sigh. 

Living the Dream

In my dreams, I'm living a sustenance lifestyle. I'm growing my own food, living off the land, totally off grid. Fishing in the creek for my supper, pulling some greens out of the garden to go along with my grilled fish. Fresh milk from a cow to provide my dairy. 

In reality, that's not the case. I don't know that it ever could be, either. 

The Easy Peasy Way to Grow Potatoes

It was a busy, busy weekend around here and I have tons to show you....but I have to get outside before the rain comes to give my grass the first cut of the season.
