What A Glorious Morning!

We've had a lot of snow up on the mountain top for this early in the season.

When it's not snowing, it seems to be cloudy and threatening snow.

Yesterday it was a mixed bag of tricks - rain, sleet, snow, ice. You name it, we got it.

All but sunshine....it feels as if we haven't seen a ray of sun in eons.

Until this morning. I walked out of my room and the sun was shining gloriously through the windows.

I couldn't help but grab my camera and start snapping!

You know how much I adore my dining room when the sun shines through those wonderful windows!

When I peeked out the dining room window it sure looked like the critters were enjoying the sunny morning right along with me!

I stepped out on the deck to feed them and brought my camera with me....the scene was magical, just like a Christmas card!

Ice had coated every tiny little branch, and the sun was making it sparkle as if the scene was covered in diamonds or glitter.

My pictures do not even do it justice, it truly was like something out of a fairy tale....or a Hallmark Christmas movie!

It was a terrific way to start the workweek, that's for sure!

It didn't stick around long before the clouds rolled in and the snow began again. But for that morning moment it truly was glorious!

I hope you find some magical moments in your week as well!

  1. Before I even read your post I thought it was a wonderful picture of your dining room. Glad to hear that the sun was out for your today. I know how you feel seeing the sun after endless rainy or snowy days. I can almost hear the swell of an orchestra in the background when I finally see the sun! Enjoy it!

    1. It didn't stick around long, Pattie, but at least while I was making my tea and stoking the fire in the morning it was making me smile!

  3. What beautiful scenery! I love to see the sun in these cold months as well. I truly hate the dreary weather that comes with the winter.

    1. I don't mind a peaceful snowfall Carol, especially when I'm cozy in my house, puttering around. But it's also nice to get a break from the clouds for a change!

    1. Believe me, I don't want to leave, Benita - I love my cozy little house!! My dining room is small but mighty...it's funny, it was a real sticking point for me when I first toured the house because I host Christmas Dinner for about 15 people every year....I nearly didn't buy the house even though I loved it so much! But I gave myself a stern talking to :) and said, hey it's only one day a year, we'll make it work....and it does!

  5. That is beautiful! We had the same scene a week and a half ago. Today the sun is shining and a lot of our 18 inches of snow has melted with 50 degree temps.

    1. A lot of our snow had melted too, Penny, aside from the giant piles from plowing that will stick around until May most likely. It's nice to get a little fresh snowfall to 'clean' everything up again!

  7. Deb how beautiful to wake first to some sunshine and then the pretty glistening snow. Your little morning Doves were waiting for their breakfast and enjoying the sunshine too. We have had mild days and sunshine this week so it feels more like early Spring than Christmas. I will take that sunshine. Just motivates me more to get things done. Have a very Merry Christmas.
    Hugs,
    Kris

    1. We have sunshine again today, Kris, my solar panels must be doing well! The morning doves were certainly waiting most patiently for me to come out with their seed....I had to put up another feeder for the poor Chickadees and Nuthatches - the smaller birds weren't getting to the feeders since the Doves, Blue Jays, and squirrels were hogging them!

  8. It is a magnificent sight, you home on the mountaintop. I wish I had more windows because I love to see those beams on the furniture too.

  9. And that is the best part of winter, isn't it? Sun sparkling up the snow and streaming through the windows. We are still waiting for our sun down the mountain here....please send some!

  11. It is the same here and such a treat when the sun shines for a bit! Beautiful winter pictures. I love the ones on the table eating. I miss being able to have a bird feeder here. Not allowed. I am allowed to have a hummingbird feed tho and enjoy that in the warmer weather. Nancy

    1. Are you allowed to have a birdbath, Nancy? Maybe you could put out a heated birdbath to draw in some of your feathered friends!

  12. Just beautiful! I think those of us who live in climates where we have all sorts of weather - and especially long periods of cloudy days - appreciate the sun moreso than those who live in sunny climates year-round.

  13. How beautiful, the snowy atmosphere. We haven't had much here in Connecticut yet, this year I'm looking forward to it more than usual, I feel like we need the cozy time, and the earth needs the chill.

    1. I was really hoping for a white Christmas this year, Karen Ann, but I'm not sure....the rain is coming down in buckets today. If it was colder we'd be having quite the blizzard!

    1. No sparkle today my friend....rain, rain, and more rain....if it freezes overnight there will be plenty of sparkle in the morning, though!
