What do you think? Am I missing anything? Can I do it? Can I convert my little garden cottage into a pseudo-greenhouse without spending a fortune?
Any of you garden gurus out there that can offer any suggestions, please do!
I could use all the help I can get!

Hey, I posted about Gardener's Supply today too!

It's amazing to me just how often you and I are on the same wavelength, Brenda!! :)
DeleteWhat a great little building...and I love your inspiration photos! Looking forward to seeing what you come up with!
ReplyDeleteMe, to!! I'm still in the dreaming phase...next I need to get to the ordering phase, and also research what seeds I want to start!
DeleteThat first picture definitely has me dreaming of spring. I would love to have the space you have to work with! I am so looking forward to watching your progress this spring.
ReplyDeleteI love that little garden cottage and I've never had a space like that to work with! Of course I'd love a greenhouse as well....or perhaps a few more skylights and windows in my garden cottage? It's come a long way in just under a year, however - it was an absolute mess when I bought the house!
DeleteI'm afraid I can't be of any help with this as I don't have a garden cottage or greenhouse. I don't even have enough room in the house to start seeds! Once you get going with your project, I can't wait to see it. Your garden cottage is so cute. You're lucky to have room for all your plants and garden tools!
ReplyDeleteI am lucky, Melanie....truly blessed.
DeleteI am loving all your ideas! I have Spring fever so badly that all I want to do is look at pictures of flowers and green grass. Have you ever visited Teresa at Meadowbrook Farm? I am so not a gardener, but in my dreams, I have gardens just like hers..and don't even get me started on her greenhouse! Wow! Here's the link in case you want to daydream along with me: http://www.themeadowbrookblog.blogspot.com/
ReplyDeleteHelp me.....we're due for 8 inches of snow Sunday night.....nooooooooooo!!!!! Yes, I am most definitely heading over to that site - thank you so much for the suggestion!!
DeleteOoh...you're going to have fun! I love your space and can't wait to see what you do! You're going to have fun none the less! Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteBe a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
I sure will, Shelia! Thanks for popping in!
DeleteI am not good at gardening Debbie, but you are sharing your vision and you are off to a good start. I am looking forward to seeing what you do with the sweet garden cottage on your property :)
ReplyDeleteI learned so much from my mom through the years...she's a fantastic gardener!
DeleteDo you read Connie's blog, Hartwood Roses? She re-did her greenhouse a while back.... did a great job too! Good luck with your endeavors! xo

I haven't heard of this blog, thanks so much - I'm heading over there right now!!
DeleteI'm not sure exactly what your looking to do.....do you want to be able to use/grow food year round? If that is your goal heating can get over the top expensive. You may want to check this book out as he is in Maine which I believe would be a similar growing zone as your are

I use to work in the largest bedding plant grower in Maine....about a 100 years ago. So if there are other questions you can certainly ask away if I don't know the answers I might be able to direct you to where you could find them. Best wishes on your adventure ....also Johnny's Seeds is another great resource.
I am not looking to grow year round in there - there's no insulation and the heating bills would be ridiculous! I would love to be able to overwinter some pots of plants....and also to be able to start seeds in early spring. Johnny's seeds is great, I've ordered from them in the past. I'm going to look up that book, thank you so much!
DeleteAlso think about if you really want to use your existing building because greenhouses have an unbelievable amount of humidity which can result in mold, mildew and rot if your dealing with a wood structure.
DeleteAhhhh yes of course....good point! Honestly someday I would love a proper greenhouse....but today is not that day, unfortunately!
DeleteNodding my head in agreement. I'm dreaming too. It's so beautiful outside today but pretty chilly. Can't wait to get out and work. :)
ReplyDeletePinned to Thoughts of Home on Thursday. Thank you for adding something great to our party.
Sunday may be a nice enough day up here to do some work outside...I'm praying I can stay out of the office this weekend for a change!!
DeleteGood Morning!
ReplyDeleteOh I love your Spring dreams, they are perfect and knowing you, many of them will come to fruition! I am so looking forward to seeing more of your garden and a greenhouse would be perfect for protecting fragile plants.
Thank you so much for your continued support of Thoughts Of Home On Thursday!
You are such a sweet friend,
xo
Jemma
Thanks, Jemma - hopefully this weekend I will have the time to work on my seed order and start the ball rolling towards spring!
