Progress Continues on my She-Shed Dreams

It's possible I may be the most lame person on the planet.

If I am, I apologize for that.

But I can't help it....I get easily excited, especially in Spring.

And yesterday was a very exciting day for me.

After much drama at work (don't even ask....) I pulled into my garage ready for nothing more than a cocktail and a walkabout.

Instead I found that Sweetie had been busy working on a surprise for me.

He's awfully cute that way, I must say!

What was in my garage that got me so excited?

Sweetie snuck over while I was at work and put together my new swing - woo hoo!

My dear friend Brenda, I think you need a swing on your patio - it will change your life!

Of course this morning I had to have Sweetie help me carry it over next to my garden cottage.

He wanted to wait until this evening.

But I couldn't wait.

So he kindly swallowed his frustration and helped me carry my beautiful new swing into place and I enjoyed my first cup of coffee on it this morning.

In my fuzzy lavender bathrobe with a red puffy down jacket on over it and my green Sloggers

Yup, quite the sight.

This is why I must live far away from other people.  There's no way I could live in a proper neighborhood and wander around in that getup.

Anyway, I digress.

So, you may remember that I am planning on putting in a nice little flower garden near the rock wall. And some plantings around the cottage itself. And climbing roses growing up the cottage. And possibly some fairy lights. And windchimes. And maybe a water feature.

I still haven't worked out all the details but it's milling around in my brain.

One of these days....most likely in the wee hours of the morning when I can't sleep....the solution will come to me clear as a bell.

For now, I'm still collecting plants.

The roses are on order, as are some other perennials and shrubs.

And on Tuesday evening I picked up some more Peonies in Lowe's when I was off the mountain top.

Peony Sarah Bernhardt
Peony Shirley Temple
Did I ever mention how much I absolutely love peonies? They are truly one of the most glorious flowers with such an incredible fragrance.

I was a little disappointed to find out my new garden had only one peony growing in it.

Well, now it's going to have 10 more.

At least.

Maybe more.

I just love the view out my bedroom window....and it's getting better and better every day.

Just wait until there are flowers galore around that little cottage.

And hummingbirds. And happy bumble bees.

That's the stuff dreams are made of.

At least my dreams.

  1. I dream of all kinds of things for my patio. I would love to have a swing like yours! I would also love to have a fabric gazebo. (I can't afford that now, but I could never afford the wooden kind). Only thing I don't like about peonies are all the ants that come with them!

    1. I used to have a fabric gazebo at my marital home....I miss that. The only thing that was a pain was taking the fabric off before the first snow every year and then putting it on in spring....it was a bit tough to stretch it over the frame at times. But I'm considering one for my new home. And yes, the ants are the only negative on the peonies - I wonder how they would do in containers at your home?

  14. Oh that little cottage has such potential that I actually squealed out loud for you - it's AWESOME - and will be so so much more AWESOME! I just dream away having something like that just for me and teatime. Unfortunately there's NO way; I live in a suburb with very strict building code rules. I ask my hubs weekly for us to move to a farmhouse with land and woods just north of here, but he doesn't want to ever move again. *sigh*

I can't wait till your dreams come true! YAY!!!!

    1. Oh how cute, Michele, you're adorable!! I admit, I do have a little table and chairs in there where I can sit and have a cocktail while I'm working on potting up plants....hey, why not, right? It's not quite tea-house worthy but it's the best little potting shed garden cottage I've ever had! And I do understand your hubby's perspective, also....I don't ever want to move again, either!! Thanks for visiting!

  15. Dear Mountain Mama:
Your peonies are a great idea - I just bought some too along with other things. It is springtime here so I am caught between going outside or packing inside! I love your wooden swing and that DARLING cottage potting shed is a DREAM COME TRUE. What's not to love about that! I am so glad you shared and linked.

  16. Hi Mountain Mama, Lovely post - I love peonies also, probably because both of my grandmothers had them in the back yards of their houses! Love the swing and wasn't that nice of your hubby! Hope you have many pleasant times there. A swing is a great place to think! Blessings, Janet

You are so right, a swing is a wonderful place to think....I've spent a little time on that swing already, trying to figure out what is going in that garden, and trying to judge how much sunshine it will get!

  19. I'm constantly dreaming about improvements around my house. Your new bench is going to the most popular seat in the house (or outside the house!) once the weather warms up. And warm up it will...won't it?
